Who’s on Board? -Team Building 2

Key Text: Proverbs 15:22

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

One of the rules of success in life is to submit your decisions to the scrutiny and review of “WISE COUNSELORS”.  It is only in very rare cases that you find yourself doing something that has never been done before or charting a course for which no one has ever attempted.

Building a team also requires building your network of mentors. A lot of disappointments and heartaches will be avoided if you get the right people to take you by the hand or point you in the right direction. Mentorship is now the single-biggest catalyst in the growth of many successful enterprises; take advantage of it. Continue reading

Who’s on Board? -Team Building 1

Key Text: Ecclesiastes 4:12

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

There are probably very few more important characteristics of business success than that of building an effective and dependable team. One of the cheapest and most dangerous mindset of new business owners is that of thinking they can do it by themselves.

In a concert, it will be very difficult for only a drum to make great melody, but when combined with other instruments in an organized tune, there would be a symphony. Working all by yourself, will be stressful and very lonely if you do not allow anyone else to offer you help.

God said in Genesis 2:18” “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” He understands that we cannot really do anything much in isolation. He knows that wonderful things happen when people of complementary characteristics get together. Continue reading

One Size DOESN’T fit ALL

Key Text: Luke 4:18

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.

Many business owners spend huge amounts on marketing their products to everyone and are then shocked at the daunting low results that their marketing efforts produce. Many believe that EVERYONE is a potential customer for their product or service and therefore EVERYONE is included in their target market- This is a total misconception!

Jesus knew whom He was sent to. He understood perfectly the power of target marketing and with that, He got outstanding result. He was constantly found amongst the poor and the oppressed of the society. He was busy healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons, feeding the crowd: He was crystal clear about his target. Once in a while He got people like Nicodemus the Pharisee and Zacchaeus the tax collector, but these are just the rippling effect of the efficiency of his ministry. Continue reading

Can you fly a Plane?

Key Text: Proverbs 4:13

Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life.

You may ride a bicycle without any instructions, maybe even drive a car by following few directions, but you can only fly a plane by adhering to strict instructions, otherwise a disaster is inevitable. Same applies if you must fly very high in life; you must be willing to follow strict instructions be it in your business, on your job, in your academics or your personal life.

Average people don’t like to follow instructions, not because they are hard to keep; but because they don’t like to be told what to do- they just want to do their own thing. Students fail exams for not reading or adhering to instructions, children disobey their parent’s instructions and become miserable, businesses ignore rules for success and then head for the rocks. What Can You Play Well?

Key Text: 1 Samuel 16:17, 21
So Saul said to his servants, “Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me.” So David came to Saul and stood before him. And he loved him greatly, and he became his armor bearer.

David’s ascent to the throne was not as a result of any political training or military accomplishments, he gained access to the palace through his exceptional skill in playing the harp; he plays so well that demons tremble. Continue reading
