Whose Business Are You Minding?

Key Text: Luke 2:49

And he said unto them, How is it that you sought me? knew you not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Success requires clarity of what your assignment or business is, and getting fully involved doing exactly that. Many of us get this twisted and get so busy doing other things other than “OUR BUSINESS”. We spend years away from our core assignments and then struggle to find our way back after we’ve spent our most vital energy on what is inconsequential to our core. If you’ve ever been lost while travelling, you can tell that it takes more time getting back on track than it took missing the way in the first place.

Jesus’ parents were caught up with the crowd; chatting away their lives, so much so that they forgot the messiah, whose care was supposedly their core assignment. It took them three days to locate him back, after they discovered “THEY” were missing- (They were the ones missing; not Jesus). Jesus said clearly “Don’t you know I must be about my father’s business?”

One of the reasons many get engaged in doing stuffs that are different from their core assignment is the “Crowd factor”. We often get carried away like Jesus’ parents by what others are doing and what is trending, that we miss the point. Rather than take the bull by the horn, we get lost by the fear being created in the crowd around us.

Many times we question the innate desire that God had placed in us. Words like “I’m scared”, “I don’t think I’m qualified”, “What if it doesn’t work out well?” engrosses our minds so much that we talk ourselves into a state of inertia, and will not move even if a force is applied to us.

No matter how fast you run, if it’s in the opposite direction, you will still be lost.-Gbenga Solademi

Do a quick checkup now: Where are you on the map of your life’s assignment? Are you lost, drifted away by the crowd, or are you on track? Are you busy minding other people’s business or you are soaked up with your own business?

Just remember that clarity, confidence and commitment to “Your Business” is required on the journey to outstanding success. Doing otherwise will cost you time, energy and ultimately lead to disappointment. If you mind “your business”, you will definitely profit from it.

You will succeed!

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the assignment you have given me. I will not miss the mark or be drifted away by the crowd in Jesus name.
