Who’s on Board? -Team Building 1

Key Text: Ecclesiastes 4:12

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

There are probably very few more important characteristics of business success than that of building an effective and dependable team. One of the cheapest and most dangerous mindset of new business owners is that of thinking they can do it by themselves.

In a concert, it will be very difficult for only a drum to make great melody, but when combined with other instruments in an organized tune, there would be a symphony. Working all by yourself, will be stressful and very lonely if you do not allow anyone else to offer you help.

God said in Genesis 2:18” “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” He understands that we cannot really do anything much in isolation. He knows that wonderful things happen when people of complementary characteristics get together.

Don Bennett was the first amputee to climb to the summit of Mt. Rainier. He made it all the way up to 14,410 feet on one leg and two crutches! The secrete to that achievement was his daughter who was with him as he hopped. Bennet said her daughter kept shouting in his ears, “You can do it, Dad. You’re the best dad in the world. You can do it, Dad!” Bennett added ‘There was no way that I was not going to make it across that ice field with my daughter shouting that in my ear- She was my best team mate”.

Whether you need mentorship, funds, expertise in an area where you are not very skilled, or just someone to push and encourage you, you need the right people on your team.

David never lost a battle all through his entire life: not because he was the strongest, but because he had the right set of mighty men (who initially were not mighty at all).  Jesus understood this and worked with his disciples who in turn took the great commission to the extent where it is today: what an outstanding success.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

As you work on your life assignment, search out people who can be of immense value and help in your business, academics, career and ministry. Put controls in place to ensure they stay motivated and are performing at their very best, but be careful not to micro-manage them.

Few, if any, truly outstanding accomplishments can be achieved by a single individual.

Prayer: Lord, send me help by sending the right people into my life, business and ministry. I will not miss my destiny helpers, open my eyes to see them and grant me the right attitude towards them.

You will prosper.
