Key Text: Proverbs 4:13
Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life.
You may ride a bicycle without any instructions, maybe even drive a car by following few directions, but you can only fly a plane by adhering to strict instructions, otherwise a disaster is inevitable. Same applies if you must fly very high in life; you must be willing to follow strict instructions be it in your business, on your job, in your academics or your personal life.
Average people don’t like to follow instructions, not because they are hard to keep; but because they don’t like to be told what to do- they just want to do their own thing. Students fail exams for not reading or adhering to instructions, children disobey their parent’s instructions and become miserable, businesses ignore rules for success and then head for the rocks.
Elijah was sustained during famine by following God’s instruction-“Go to the brook Cherith”. An entire city (Jericho) was delivered to the hands of the Israelites by following God’s marching instructions. But Saul lost his kingdom when he didn’t wait for Samuel to show up to offer the sacrifice for the battle.
Proverbs 13:13 says “Whoever scorns instruction will pay for it, but whoever respects a command is rewarded”.
You may be able to get by, making some profits once in a while by following advises or recommendations, but to really succeed, you need to know the rules and follow them to the letters.
Business success rules such as: planning before you start, delivering on promises, and saving a percentage of your profit (retained earnings) cannot be meddled with if must succeed. Biblical Instructions such as reading and meditations (Joshua 1:8), giving and returning of tithes are irrefutable laws for prosperity.
Don’t do anything new without finding out the rules. Always read fine prints before signing the dotted lines. If you do not understand an instruction ask for clarifications and you would have saved yourself from trouble.
Most importantly, use the scripture as the instructional manual to know how to operate your life.
Don’t be stuck to life’s bicycle; Get your instructional manual and fly.
You will succeed.
Payer: Father, show me the rules and give me the grace to faithfully follow the instruction you’ve laid down for my life.
