Take A Bite (Part 3)

Key Text: Proverbs 19:24 NIV

A sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not even bring it back to his mouth!

Many have had opportunities pass them by severally because of their ego and pride issues. Blessings get to the hands of those that are willing to humble themselves and grow from the bottom up.

Following from the “Take A Bite” Series, one other reason sluggards may refuse to bring food to their mouth may be linked to pride- the feeling that “their meal is not good enough”. These people form “crème de la crème”, they are puffed up, full of themselves but yet have nothing to show.

A large percentage of unemployed college graduates do nothing, not because they do not have any skill but because they feel too qualified to take up the so called “Dirty Jobs”. Young men and women are carried away by the acquisition of credentials and certificates, while neglecting the crux of skill acquisition. Their certificates and credentials have become a major stumbling block to their life’s progress.kidvegetable

Consider the words of John D. Rockefeller: He says “I believe in the dignity of labor, whether with head or hand; that the world owes no man a living but that it owes every man an opportunity to make a living”

Out of seemingly small opportunities come big opportunities, out of dirty tasks comes “mints” of cash. “Opportunities are always around but they’re often dressed in dirty overalls” says Thomas Edison.

James 4:10 asserts: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble”. Do not get too “educated” to earn money with your skills.

People in your area needs grooming- start your salon, people in your area needs their clothes cleaned- start a laundry shop, start your poultry farm, commence your fashion store, offer handyman services, open a small restaurant, list your car on www.uber.com . And if your certificate is not working; go get a skill: You may be unemployed with a degree, but not with a skill.

Do not let pride stop you from eating your God ordained food; rather you should “Eat with Pride”.

Prayer: Sweet Holy Spirit, help me to humble myself to receive the full abundance of blessings you have in store for me in Jesus name.

You will succeed!
