The Power of Exposure

Key Text: 1 Kings 10:1(a) NLT
“The queen of Sheba heard about Solomon and his connection with the Name of God. She came to put his reputation to the test by asking tough questions”.

Travelling and exposure to other people’s way of life are a major source of getting inspiration and ideas. It opens us up to a new world of possibilities when we see how other people (and nations) have succeeded in areas that we so desire to excel.

The challenge is that it’s always convenient to stay where we are used to staying. It feels safe to many to continue doing things the way they are used to doing it. Unfortunately, if we are not widely exposed, our ambitions may remain only as “Daydreams” for lack of knowhow.

The Queen of Sheba came all the way from her country (most likely Northern Africa) to the kingdom of the wisest man of her time to find out how Solomon achieved such level of wisdom and opulence.Cultural-Diversity-1024x660

Successful Patriarchs were people that traveled wide: Abraham was instructed to leave the comfort of his home in the land of Ur of the Chaldeans. Paul throttled the globe (from Corinth to Ephesus, Galatia to Asia, to Eastern Europe and many more places). Aside from the fact that Jesus left his throne above, he moved all around his vicinity from Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria and more.

Don’t get stuck where you are, the world is way bigger than what you can see!

Take a little holiday, travel to a new place, make a new friend with a different background, open up to other people’s way of life, try a new meal, read magazines and article on other people’s culture, understand successful nation’s thinking, take time out with rich and successful people while resisting the urge of asking for money or favor.

Most importantly expose yourself to the light of the scripture: “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” Psalm 119:130

Prayer: Sweet Holy Spirit, open the eyes of my heart, help me to see possibilities where I thought none previously existed.

You will succeed.
